The 2020 Lawrence County District 31 Legislative Crackerbarrels will be held Saturday, February 15, at 9:00 AM at the BHSU Joy Center in Spearfish and 1:00 PM at the Deadwood Visitor Center.

Legislative Crackerbarrels in your area offer access to your local legislators, as well as the chance to hear their answers on a variety of legislative topics.

Representative Johns, Representative Hammock and Senator Ewing sit as a panel to give updates on the current legislative session. Our legislators are also available at that time to answer questions from the audience. The event is free and all are welcome to attend.

Description: Open to Students. The Student Engagement and Leadership Center is hosting its first Arts and Culture Weekend, February 15th-17th, 2019 in Denver, CO. To register, please complete this form entirely: https://forms.gle/HJeXBjQFzVQgA7L77 . You will receive an email copy of the form submission if it successfully submits. In order to reserve a spot, you must pay the registration fee ($100) in the SELC (SU 210). We accept cash, checks, credit/debit cards, and buzzbucks.

Once we have your form and your registration fee, you will receive a confirmation email. Your registration fee covers transportation, accommodation, breakfast, and the Denver City Pass. You are responsible for additional costs like lunches, dinners, and any optional/unplanned activities. The tentative weekend schedule is below. Students will stay in a room with three other students, so if you have roommate preferences, please list them on the form.

Saturday, February 15th, 2019:

6:00 AM: Leave BHSU Library Circle (Please bring breakfast)
Lunch on the way
2:00 PM: Denver Botanical Gardens (entrance is covered by the Denver City Pass)
4:30 PM: Hotel Check-In
6:00 PM: Optional Activity: Dave & Busters (Dinner Available)- Sportsbar style adult arcade

Sunday, February 16th, 2019:

8:30 AM: Breakfast (Covered at the hotel)
10:00 AM: Denver Art Museum (entrance is covered by the Denver City Pass)
12:30 PM: Lunch at Avanti F&B- A Collective Eatery
2:00 PM: Denver Museum of Nature & Science (entrance is covered by the Denver City Pass)
7:00 PM: Optional Activity: Top Golf (Dinner Available)- High-tech driving range with entertainment lounge, drinks, and games

Monday, February 17th, 2019:

8:30 AM: Breakfast (Covered at the hotel)

BHSU faculty, students overcome challenges of online learning during COVID-19 pandemic

Faculty and students at Black Hills State University are beginning their second week of online classes today, following the announcement that all South Dakota public universities will continue online teaching through the end of the spring semester due to COVID-19. The adjustment has been challenging, but the connections among the BHSU community are helping students find a way forward.

In coordination with Gov. Kristi Noem’s Executive Order, the South Dakota Board of Regents with input from the six state universities has announced that all South Dakota public universities will continue online teaching through the end of spring semester. Originally online classes were scheduled for two weeks; however, given the increasing number of coronavirus cases, online classes will continue through the end of the spring semester. In addition, May commencement will be postponed in response to the global COVID-19 pandemic.
