The online master’s in education at Black Hills State University was included on a list of the Best Online Programs for 2020 by U.S. News & World Report. BHSU offers an online master’s of education in reading. Four master’s of science degrees are also offered online through BHSU: strategic leadership, curriculum & instruction, secondary education, and sustainability.
Black Hills State University was named one of the Top 200 Colleges for Indigenous Students by Winds of Change Magazine, published by the American Indian Science and Engineering Society (AISES). The major criteria for selection include a university’s supportive Native community and statistics on degrees.
Two students at Black Hills State University saved the life of their friend this fall while hiking in Spearfish Canyon. Preston Knobloch, applied health sciences major from Sioux Falls, and Alexis Venables, art major from Sartell, Minn., were recently recognized by BHSU with a Lifesaving Award.
Teachers may now register for the Spring 2020 session of the South Dakota Stock Market Game Program (SDSMG) operated by the Black Hills State University Center for Economic Education. The Spring session begins Monday, Feb. 10 and ends its 10-week trading period on Friday, April 17. To register, go to www.stockmarketgame.org

Black Hills State University will honor 179 graduates during the Fall Commencement Ceremony Saturday, Dec. 14. View the list of graduates.
The ceremony begins at 10 a.m. at the Donald E. Young Sports and Fitness Center on the BHSU campus. The public is invited to attend and celebrate the students’ achievements.
