BHSU names Anatomy & Physiology Lab for donor Carol Lundberg

Black Hills State University honored Spearfish resident Carol Lundberg recently by naming the Anatomy & Physiology Lab on campus in her honor. Lundberg is a generous supporter of BHSU having established a scholarship fund for students with additional support in her estate plan for math and science scholarships.

At the recognition event held Nov. 27 in the Kathryn Johnson Life Sciences Building, Lundberg said she was honored to receive this acknowledgement of her support.

“My gifts to BHSU are a great investment in these outstanding students,” said Lundberg. “It makes my heart feel good to pass along this support to Black Hills State.”

Often seen on campus, Lundberg enjoys having lunch with students who’ve benefited from her scholarship endowment. The students say they appreciate Lundberg’s willingness to listen and offer career and academic guidance. The Carol Lundberg Scholarship awards several $2,000 scholarships to junior or senior students from South Dakota majoring in math or science with a GPA of 3.0.

Lundberg grew up in eastern South Dakota and moved to California after graduating high school. She spent almost 50 years in California and worked in the self-insured health care industry before moving to Spearfish. Lundberg says she chose Spearfish because it is the "prettiest place in South Dakota" with nearby hiking and biking trails. 

In 2015, Lundberg served as the Swarm Day Parade Marshal in honor of her support for BHSU and volunteer activities in the Spearfish community. 

About the Carol Lundberg Anatomy and Physiology Laboratory
The Carol Lundberg Anatomy and Physiology Laboratory is a 1000-square-foot facility designed to foster interaction between students working in groups and faculty. Constructed for 24 students per lab section, the lab includes equipment for anatomical dissections and physiological recording, along with presentation equipment for instruction and demonstration. The room was designed for BHSU lab courses in anatomy, physiology, and neurobiology.
