Black Hills Energy donation supports Business Technology Classroom at BHSU
Black Hills Energy will present a $10,000 check to Black Hills State University Friday, Oct. 19 to help fund technology for a School of Business Technology Classroom. The community is invited to the presentation and classroom tour to be held at 1:15 p.m. in Meier Hall room 205 on the BHSU campus in Spearfish.Dr. Greg Farley, dean of the College of Business and Natural Sciences at BHSU, said the donation from Black Hills Energy will fund several laptop desks in a new School of Business Technology Classroom.
“At BHSU we have an ever-growing interest in student technology training. The new laptop desks bought with funds donated by Black Hills Energy will help us to expand our teaching and learning opportunities with technology,” said Farley. “We thank Black Hills Energy for this valuable contribution to education.”
Farley said the desks have a “vault” to safely and securely store laptops or other mobile devices. The convertible workspace supports laptops and still functions like a regular desk for text materials. With continuous power connection and customizable data connections, the laptop desks will enable students to work independently or side-by-side in classroom collaboration.
“Black Hills Energy supports technology and education for the universities in our service area,” said Nick Gardner, vice president of Electric Operations for Black Hills Energy in South Dakota. “With the rapid change in business innovation and technologies, it is important that students receive the adequate tools to help them prepare for a work environment that requires knowledge of changing technologies.”
