BHSU Sutton Bay event raises $358,000 for scholarships

A Sutton Bay Golfing and Fishing event last month raised a record $358,000 for athletic scholarships at Black Hills State University. First Premier Bank and Dana and LaDawn Dykhouse sponsored the event again this year.

“We are truly blessed at BHSU to have support from Dana and LaDawn and First Premier Bank,” said Steve Meeker, Vice President of University Advancement. “First Premier Bank picks up our expenses at this event so that all money raised can go to scholarships. Dana and LaDawn then match what is raised, and we had another generous, anonymous couple also match this year’s event. The event is not only our largest fundraiser of the year, but it is quite possibly the most fun as well.”

The BHSU Yellow Jackets have made tremendous progress in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) since moving to Division II athletics five years ago. This year the Yellow Jackets moved up to the top 10 for the conference All-Sports Competition Cup.

Next year’s dates for Sutton Bay fundraising event has been set for Aug. 12-14.  For more information contact Meeker at Steve.Meeker@BHSU.edu or call 605-642-6385.
