Joshua Marbach is ready to help you and your family make the right decision about college.

Joshua is the new admissions representative based out of the Black Hills State University Jacket Zone in Sioux Falls. He says his goal is to help students make a smooth transition to college.

"The reason I'm here is to provide you the information you need to make the best decision about which college to attend and which majors you might be interested in. I really like helping people through this process," says Joshua.

A BHSU grad, Joshua worked as a commercial scuba diver before deciding pursue his college degree. He grew up in Pierre spearfishing on Lake Oahe and worked as a scuba diver in agriculture, assisting farmers with their intake systems.

In his early 20s, Joshua says he began to regret not going to college. He then decided to pursue a degree at BHSU where he says he found an active community who enjoyed being outdoors as much as he did.

"I've always had a natural attraction to the Black Hills. Once I was on campus at Black Hills State I felt that strong sense of community there. I recognized everyone and I had a lot of one-on-one time with my professors," said Joshua.

Joshua pursued his business administration degree because "it's a diverse, well-rounded degree" and because BHSU is among the top five percent of business schools worldwide through AACSB accreditation. He graduated from BHSU in May.

Joshua encourages those thinking about going to college to stop by the Jacket Zone in Sioux Falls.

"If you don't know where to start on your college search, stop by the Sioux Falls Jacket Zone and let's talk," says Joshua. "If you have a good idea about where you're going to college, I still encourage you to stop by before making any final decisions. There's always something new to learn."

While Joshua says it's never too early to get started on your college search, he says there's still time to enroll for the fall semester - whether on campus in Spearfish, Rapid City, or online.

"If you're just out of high school or if you're a professional looking for more education, Black Hills State University has options for you," says Joshua. "There's great value in an education from BHSU."

He noted that BHSU offers 9 master's, 68 bachelor's, and 6 associate degrees.
