BHSU to host ribbon cutting for newly renovated BHSU Hillside
Black Hills State University invites the community to a Ribbon Cutting ceremony to celebrate the newly renovated BHSU Hillside Monday, April 24 at 11 a.m. The event will include speakers, a performance by the BHSU Drumline, announcement of the official Lakota name for the area, and food and beverages.
Black Hills State University will host a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the newly renovated hillside on campus near the E.Y. Berry Library-Learning Center.
The public is invited to attend this special event Monday, April 24 at 11 a.m. on the hillside that connects the campus to St. Joe Street. The event includes a performance by the BHSU drumline, the Bee Line, and a brief program followed by refreshments. Speakers include Dr. Tom Jackson, Jr., BHSU President, Dana Boke, Mayor of Spearfish, and Justin Logue, BHSU Student Senate President. The official Lakota name of the hillside will be announced by Jace DeCory, longtime professor at BHSU.
The hillside landscaping project was completed last fall. Re-grading a steep hill to a gentle slope created the opportunity for an ADA-accessible walkway connecting campus with the Spearfish community along St. Joe Street. The new sidewalk, which adjoins the city walk/bike path, leads to the heart of campus and the campus green that is used for campus and community events.
