BHSU PHOTO CONTEST

We want to showcase campus from the perspective of a student, so we are hosting a photo contest of images related to campus beauty.

Eligibility

Entry is open to currently enrolled Black Hills State University students.

Entry Period

April 6 - April 20, 2020

What to Enter

Students are allowed TWO photo submissions.

The theme of this photo contest is of the beauty of Black Hills State University and entries must be shot on campus.
Beauty can be defined in many ways and could include images like:

  • Landscapes
  • Architecture
  • Fall Colors
  • Classrooms
  • Laboratory Experiences
  • Academic Discussions
  • Athletic Competitions
  • Group Activities
  • Residence Life
  • View from Campus
  • And many more!

For a photo in which a person is recognizable, you must secure a model release from the subject and send it to Web@bhsu.edu

How to Enter

There are several ways to enter:

  • Submit via the online form below
  • Submit via Instagram by using #bhsubeauty and tagging @blackhillsstate
  • Submit via Facebook by using #bhsubeauty and tagging Black Hills State University
  • Submit via Twitter by using #bhsubeauty and #bhsu

**Keep in mind that if you have stricter privacy settings, we may not be able to see your photo. If you have any doubt that we will not be able to see your submission, please use the online form.

To be eligible for selection, you must be prepared to submit the full resolution image if requested and give permission for the image to be used for promotion of the university.

We recommend only minor adjustments such as sharpening, contrast, and slight color adjustments.

Judging

Photos will be judged on creativity, relation to the theme, and quality of the image.

First, Second, and Third place as well as People's choice will be awarded prizes. 

First Place prize sponsored by Health Source Chiropractic of Spearfish.  Other prizes sponsored by Red Water Kitchen, Killian's, Ventana, the Junk Drawer, BHSU Bookstore, the Hot Room, Vast Adventure, & Live Wild Media.

Contest winning photos will be permanently displayed on campus.

WINNERS WILL BE ANNOUNCED APRIL 24, 2020.
