Each month one BHSU-RC student is awarded the “Student of the Month” honor for making a positive impact on campus or fellow students. The recipient of the award receives a personal parking space close to the building and a large pizza from Marco’s Pizza. Faculty, staff, fellow students, and even community members can nominate a student for this honor.
BHSU-RC is a hub for:
high school students earning college credit
traditional-aged students pursuing a degree
working professionals finishing a degree or earning a certificate.
College credits are easily transferred from BHSU-RC to any other state schools in South Dakota and across the nation. Start by taking your general education courses while finalizing your college plans. Or, if you took courses at another college, contact Jake.Hamik@BHSU.edu, 605-178-4194, to discuss how to use your credits for your degree.
6. Use the biology labs or photography darkroom onsite
7. Fuel your body and mind at the BHSU-RC Bookstore
A fully stocked coffee bar with drinks and snacks in the BHSU-RC Bookstore is a favorite stop for students on campus. The Bookstore also carries apparel, supplies, (and books!) for classes offered at BHSU-RC.
8. Counseling for students and community members
Sometimes you just need someone to talk to. Students can get free counseling sessions onsite at BHSU-Rapid City through the South Dakota State University counseling program. A confidential food pantry run by the Sociology and Human Services Collective student group is located by the east stairwell at BHSU-RC. Students are encouraged to take whatever they need if their households are running low on food. Donations to the BHSU-RC Food Pantry are also accepted.
9. Walking path and best study spots
The sidewalks around BHSU-Rapid City form a peaceful walking path available to students and community members alike. Students say their favorite study spots are:
Atrium at the center of the building
Conference rooms on the second floor complete with large windows of natural light and beautiful views
Shaded seating areas at the building entrances.
The lime green slouchy chairs in the Atrium are choice seating!
10. There’s still time to register for fall classes.
Classes begin August 20. Start fulfilling your dreams today by visiting www.BHSU.edu/RC
