Learn the basics of financial management in this four-part series

Start the new year on track and learn the basics of financial management for small businesses during a four-part Financial Management Series "Your Future-Your Success," hosted by the South Dakota Center for Enterprise Opportunity at Black Hills State University.

This series will be held each Thursday in February at the Joy (Proctor) Krautschun Alumni/Foundation Welcome Center in Spearfish. The series will include four sessions:
  • Session 1: Thursday, Feb. 4, 8:30-10 a.m., "Understanding Your Cash Flow," James Mortenson, Black Hills Community Bank
  • Session 2: Thursday, Feb. 11, 8:30-10 a.m., "Tax Planning/Reporting for Small Business and Choosing the Right Business Structure," Jess Weaver, Ketel Thorstenson, LLP
  • Session 3: Thursday, Feb. 18, 11 a.m.-2 p.m., "Women & Wealth: The Confidence to Pursue Your Goals," Lisa Albers-Koppmann, UBS Financial Services-with lunch provided by UBS
  • Session 4: Thursday, Feb. 25, 8:30-10 a.m., "Financing Options for Your Small Business Venture," Dave Puls, U.S. Small Business Administration, and Fran White, Black Hills Community Economic Development
Helen Merriman, SD CEO Director says, "Financial management impacts decisions in your business as well as your life. This series will address a number of topics that will help participants, whether they are aspiring entrepreneurs, small start-ups, or seasoned business owners, gain confidence in their financial-related business decisions and help them understand how financial management can improve their business."
