SPEARFISH... There are currently several wildfires in the Black Hills region including one on nearby Crow Peak.  There is currently no threat to the Black Hills State University campus or Spearfish community.

Firefighters battling the Crow Peak Mountain fire are being housed on campus and personnel will also be using office space on campus. They will be moving some fire trucks and equipment with them in the parking lots.

While there are currently no classes in session at BHSU, there are a small number of camps and conferences scheduled the week of June 26th. BHSU officials are working directly with these groups to provide details and updates and will monitor the situation and make adjustments if needed.

"While it is distressing to see our beautiful Black Hills on fire, it is reassuring to know that BHSU and the Spearfish community are not threatened at this time and that firefighters are battling the fire.  We are proactively working with firefighter officials to provide lodging and other services on the BHSU campus," Dr. Tom Jackson, Jr., BHSU President said. "Our thoughts and prayers are with the firefighters, their families, and people living in the areas affected by the fires."

BHSU will continue to provide updates on their webpage-
