The Northern Hills Chamber Chorale featuring BHSU students and community members presents "Opera a la Carte," a concert of opera choruses and arias, Tuesday, April 14 at 7:30 p.m. in BHSU&rsquos Meier Hall.

The Northern Hills Chamber Chorale at Black Hills State University will take the stage for their spring concert performing "Opera a la Carte" Tuesday, April 14 at 7:30 p.m. in Clare and Josef Meier Recital Hall on the BHSU campus. The concert is free and open to the public with donations accepted toward music scholarships.

The "Opera a la Carte" concert will feature a selection of opera choruses and arias by Purcell, Mozart, Verdi, and Gilbert and Sullivan performed by BHSU students and community members.

The Northern Hills Chamber Chorale, previously known as the BHSU Community Chorale, performs twice a year. Jonathan Nero, associate professor of music at BHSU, said leadership from community singers in the group spearheaded the group&rsquos name change to invite more community members to participate.

"By calling the group the &lsquoNorthern Hills Chamber Chorale,&rsquo we want communities throughout the Northern Hills to know they&rsquore invited to be part of this choral group," said Nero.  "The Chorale is open to any student or community member that wants to sing."

During the concert, the audiences will see and hear the new Steinway &amp Sons Grand Piano installed at BHSU Monday, April 6.
