The South Dakota Center for Enterprise Opportunity (SD CEO) at Black Hills State University in partnership with Coeur Wharf, presents the second annual Women in Leadership Series: Focusing on the Future 2015.

This professional development opportunity offers women from all industries the unique opportunity to increase their leadership skills, develop leadership strategies, and enhance their leadership styles.

The two day intensive will be held Wednesday, May 20 and Thursday, May 21 at the University Center-Rapid City from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Follow up sessions are scheduled for June, July, and September, with the series concluding at the Women&rsquos Business Conference in Deadwood October 23.  

Presenters at the leadership series include highly accomplished business professionals, BHSU professors and administrators, as well as guest appearances by local and international leaders including Dr. Helen Usera, Black Hills Works Foundation Dr. Priscilla Romkema, Dean of the College of Business and Natural Sciences at BHSU Dr. Wei Song, associate professor of marketing at BHSU Dr. Barbara Looney, assistant professor of management at BHSU Dr. Mary Caton-Rosser, associate professor of mass communication at BHSU Dr. Pat Simpson, dean of the College of Education and Behavioral Sciences at BHSU Ms. Laura Prosser, assistant professor of accounting at BHSU Ms. Abby Olson, Coeur Wharf and Ms. Meg Manke, Coeur Wharf.

Topics include: Emotional Intelligence Weathering Change Project, Plans, and Purpose Leading with Vision for the Future Personalities and Communication SMART Goals Myths and Benefits of Budgeting Interactive Team Building Business Ethics &ndash a Global Perspective Professional Imaging, and more.

According to Helen Merriman, director of the SD CEO, "The Women in Leadership Series is the foundation for developing lifelong leadership skills. From novice to advanced, participants will apply their understanding and insights the moment they leave the leadership sessions."

Graduates from the 2014 Women in Leadership Class have been quick to offer praises for the series: "This series helped me realize the need to step outside my box and pursue new opportunities for personal and professional growth and development," said Jeanne Hanson, assistant director for BHSU Facilities Services.  Kay Stambaugh, office manager at RCS Construction agreed and said, "Through this program I have been able to get out of my comfort zone. It&rsquos been a wonderful experience."

Late registration is $299. Seating is limited for this series and registration closes Wed., May 6. Partial scholarships are available.  This program has been approved for 3.45 CEUs by Black Hills State University.
