A photograph taken by Black Hills State University student Bryce Boser, mass communication major from Box Elder, won the national GoPro&rsquos Picture of the Day contest recently.

GoPro, a company that develops high-definition cameras, featured the image on its Instagram site, on Oct. 7.

Bryce shot the winning photo for the World Tourism Days&rsquo photo contest at BHSU. In the picture Boser is laying down in his hammock in front of Mount. Rushmore. The serene moment was captured by his GoPro camera.

"It was fun. I had a few ideas for the pictures of what I wanted to do. All I really wanted was to show tourism in the Black Hills and what it means for other people. For me, it was just chilling in my hammock," said Boser.

GoPro encourages people to submit their pictures online and each day, the company selects a Photo of the Day. As of Oct. 7, Boser&rsquos picture had more than 200,000 "Likes" and over 1,300 comments.

Because of GoPro&rsquos high profile, Boser said he was shocked to have his photo selected out of the thousands of submissions.

"When I got the email I honestly didn&rsquot know what to think. I re-read it so many times because it was just crazy. It was awesome. My friends greeted me, too, and I had tears of joy," said Boser.

Boser became interested in photography and videography in high school. During the years and through opportunities at BHSU, his passion and experience grew.

"When I was a kid in high school I always loved doing cool things and showing people new things. Once I figured out and knew what the GoPro was, I was interested in taking photos with different angles and perspectives of what I like to do. I always saw people do cool edits so I figured out that I could do the same," Boser said.

Boser also won the BHSU Where Anything Is Possible contest in January. Boser created a video, promoting the University&rsquos new tagline "Where Anything Is Possible." His winning video was played locally during the Super Bowl.

For winning in the contest, Boser received a discount for GoPro equipment and said he is ready to buy new camera for his next adventure in the Black Hills.
