BHSU raises money, collects donations for Spearfish Food Pantry during Downtown Friday Night event

Black Hills State University faculty, staff, students, alums and supporters highlighted their BHSU pride at last week&rsquos Downtown Friday Night in Spearfish.  

BHSU raised more than $1,100 and collected 100 food items for the Spearfish Food Pantry during the July 31 BHSU Night at the weekly event.

The University asked the community to highlight their BHSU pride with specially designed T-shirts, which were provided to those who brought a cash or food donation for the Spearfish Food Pantry.

"What a great night at Downtown Friday Nights last week. We are very fortunate to have such a great relationship with BHSU and the active role the University took with us this summer. Thank you for working with us in so many ways," said Scott Temple, an organizer of Downtown Friday Nights.

In addition to the collection, BHSU provided bubble making kids&rsquo activities and information on the American Indian Studies program at the University. Sting made an appearance, visiting and taking photos with attendees. A group photo also was taken on Main Street, spelling out BHSU with those wearing the specially designed T-shirts.
