The Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) at Black Hills State University held its annual Volunteer Recognition Luncheon at the Deadwood Gulch Resort &amp Convention Center recently.

More than 200 attended the luncheon, which is held each year to thank the RSVP volunteers for their dedication to the community. Dr. Tom Jackson, Jr., BHSU President, and Jane Klug, director of student activities at BHSU, spoke to the volunteers thanking them for their dedication to BHSU and the Spearfish community over the past year.

"The RSVP volunteers give so much to our communities and get so little in return," said Nancy Wietgrefe, RSVP director at BHSU. "The luncheon is a way for me to serve them for a change. I&rsquom honored to work with such amazing people."

The RSVP has 484 volunteers and serves 100 non-profit agencies. Last year, 44,447 hours of service were provided to eight counties in north and western South Dakota through working at local schools and food pantries, delivering Meals on Wheels, providing transportation for others for doctor appointments or grocery shopping and aiding civic groups in the area.
