BHSU historical course with European experience to provide educational impact

A group of 14 Black Hills State University students and two faculty members will explore Germany, Poland, and the Czech Republic March 1-12 as part of the BHSU international learning course “Nazi Germany and the Holocaust: History, Memory, and Legacy.” Students will share their gained knowledge with other BHSU students and the Spearfish community with a public presentation on Holocaust Remembrance Day, April 12.

BHSU Geek Speak discusses environmental consciousness in the Age of Accelerations

Dr. Jami Stone, associate professor of mathematics education at Black Hills State University, will discuss environmental consciousness in her Geek Speak, “Trash Has Two Parents: The Person Who Threw It and the Person Who Walked by…” This speak will be held at 4 p.m. on Thursday, March 1 in Jonas 110  on the BHSU campus in Spearfish. All Geek Speaks are free and open to the public.

Theatre students represent BHSU at Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival

Eleven theatre students represented Black Hills State University at the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival (KCACTF) in Des Moines, Iowa, Jan. 21-26. BHSU students networked with hundreds of professionals in the field, trained under faculty from across the nation, preformed in front of thousands, and took home four Certificates of Merit.

Postponed: First annual Women in Science Conference to be held at BHSU

Note: This event has been postponed due to the weather forecast and will be rescheduled. The Black Hills State University Women in Science Group will hold its first annual Women in Science Conference at BHSU in Spearfish Monday, March 5th. The goal of this free one-day conference is to encourage middle school girls to pursue careers in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM).

BHSU students named to fall 2017 Dean’s List

The Office of Academic Affairs at Black Hills State University has released the Dean’s List for the fall 2017 semester. A total of 733 students maintained a grade point average (GPA) of 3.5 or higher while taking at least 12 credit hours. Students are listed by hometown or current place of residence. Students that achieved a 4.0 GPA are recognized with an asterisk (*).

A total of 159 students maintained a grade point average (GPA) of 3.5 or higher while taking less than 12 credit hours. Students are listed by hometown or current place of residence. Students that achieved a 4.0 GPA are recognized with an asterisk (*).
