WestCore DNA Core Facility: Sequencing

DNA sequencing refers to determination of the order of the nucleotide bases—adenine (A), guanine (G), cytosine (C), and thymine (T) – in a molecule of DNA.

Sequencing of DNA performed at WestCore is used to infer phylogenetic relationships among organisms and as part of a test for identifying the species of origin when that is unknown.
