WestCore Service: Genotyping

Genotyping: Testing that allows the identification of specific alleles inherited by an individual.

WestCore uses nuclear DNA such as microsatellites (short tandem repeats, or STRs) and single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) to develop population genetic databases. The databases are used to infer phylogenetic relationships among organisms, identify genetic structure within and among populations of the same organism, and statistical calculations of match probability in forensic matching cases.
