2019 "SD CEO Enterprising Women Awards" nominations are now CLOSED

SD CEO recognizes four women across the state every year at our Celebrating Women in Business Luncheon. Please consider nominating a deserving individual or business for one of the awards below. Self nominations are accepted. SD CEO has a panel of expert judges that determine the winner in each category. Winners must be present at the 10 th Annual Celebrating Women in Business Luncheon & Awards on May 17, 2019

Nomination Deadline: Sunday, April 7

Enterprising Young Entrepreneur:

This woman entrepreneur has created a successful business by demonstrating outstanding skill and commitment. She demonstrates leadership qualities in her community and/or industry. This woman: 

  • Owns the business (51% or more)
  •  Has owned her current business for a minimum of 3 years
  •  Is 35 years or younger as of May 17, 2019
  •  Is a small business entrepreneur as defined by the U.S. SBA 
  • The business must be located in South Dakota.

Enterprising Woman Entrepreneur:

This dynamic business woman has achieved substantial success and demonstrates significant leadership in her industry and community. She demonstrates outstanding skill, commitment, and accomplishment, while successfully navigating obstacles. She also mentors and encourages others.This woman: 

  • Owns the business (51% or more)
  •  Has owned her current business for a minimum of 7 years
  •  Is a small business entrepreneur as defined by the U.S. SBA 
  • Operates primarily within the U.S. or makes a significant contribution to the U.S. economy through payment of taxes or use of American products, materials or labor; is independently owned and operated; is not dominant in its field on a national basis)
  • The business must be located in South Dakota.

Enterprising Friend of Small Business:

This woman is an advocate for the growth and development of small business, and demonstrates commitment and ongoing support to the success of women-owned businesses. This woman may work for or own a business of any size, and the business does not need to be woman-owned. 

Enterprising Woman Intrapreneur:

This woman may work for a business of any size, and has used her entrepreneurial qualities to implement or serve as a catalyst to innovative changes within her organization that have led to increased revenues, expansion/growth of the company, improved systems, or other quantifiable improvements/advancements of the organization. She can work at any level of the organization, and demonstrates significant leadership qualities at work and within her community. The business the woman works for must be located in South Dakota.

The 10th Annual Celebrating Women in Business Luncheon is Friday, May 17 at the Holiday Inn Spearfish-Convention Center. Doors open and the exhibitor showcase begins at 10:00 a.m. The luncheon will conclude at 1:00 p.m. 
To celebrate SD CEO’s 10th anniversary, we have TWO phenomenal keynote speakers – both a successful entrepreneur and a successful intrapreneur! 
Think of an “intrapreneur” as someone who works for a company or organization and brings entrepreneurial qualities like innovation, resilience, determination and grit to her job every day. So whether you own your own business or work for a great company, you will leave encouraged and inspired.
