I am a Junior at BHSU this year and am double majoring in Environmental Physical Science and Business Management. I hope to become a hydrologist and work in flood control or water quality when I get out of school. I would also like to own my own business that promotes stewardship of the earth. I feel that these two degrees and the creativity I developed as an STF will best prepare me to achieve these goals.
I participate in Campus Ventures, track, and cross country here at BHSU. I love to run and be outdoors so cross country is a great fit for me. I also love to go and praise Jesus and hang out with fellow Christians at Campus Ventures. With encouragement from Campus Ventures I applied for the IT Project and went to Los Angeles two summers ago. This was a great expeirence for me as I was exposed to all the major world religions and had a great time learning about what God might have in store for me in the coming years.
I live just outside Wessington Springs SD on a farm. We raise cows, pigs, alfalfa, wheat, and corn. I really enjoyed growing up on the farm because it taught me time management and responsibility. I went to high school in Wessington Springs and graduated with a class of 21 students. Coming from a small school I was able to do any of the activities that our school provided. I was involved in cross country, track, basketball, FFA, concert band, jazz band, marching band, concert choir, natural high, boys ensemble, strategic planning for the school district, student representative on the board of Wessington Springs Area Community Foundation, and I started a recycling program in the school. I loved being involved in my school and community and gained a great desire to help make this world a better place for others.
I learned what hard work can achieve through my many activities. I am the school record holder in the 4x800 meter relay and held the school record in the 1600 meters until my little brother beat it. I was on the first place state team for Ag Management and on the second place national land judging team. In cross country I was State B runner-up 3 years and our team was State B champions 3 years in a row. These successes came to me because I developed the gifts God gave me and worked really hard to be a positive role model and achieve my goals.
