What is the L-Drive?

Black Hills State University offers access to your L Drive files from any computer with an internet connection, on or off campus! The L Drive provides access to files to both faculty and students. An L Drive folder is given per the request of your faculty and is limited to class use.

Important notice:

Access to the L Drive will be shut down on Friday, May 16, 2014. Please make personal copies of any documents you wish to retain.

Getting Started

Accessing the L-Drive
To access the L Drive or MacShare through your browser, click on the corresponding link. If you are using any browser other than Internet Explorer (e.g., Safari, Firefox, or Chrome), please review the instructions for alternative access methods.

For more information concerning access to the L-Drive, visit L-Drive Access.

Logging in
Login with your BHSU username and password:
  • For students, this is Firstname.Lastname@yellowjackets.BHSU.edu. This password may be different from your email password. If you are unsure, you can retrieve your login information at the Login Help page.
  • For faculty, this is Firstname.Lastname@BHSU.edu.

Using the L-Drive
Simply drag and drop the item from your computer to the folder. Adding and editing files works just as it does from any university computer except that it is web-based, and files are not accessed through "My Computer". However, if you are accessing the files from off campus, it is highly recommended that you copy the file to your computer, modify it as needed, and copy it back to your folder on the L Drive. Doing so will reduce the risk of any problems or loss of data that may occur if you encounter technical problems.

Problems or Questions?
If you are still having problems, consult the L-Drive FAQ or submit the Request Help Form. Be sure to include a detailed description of the problem, your full name, email address and phone number.
