Halima Yates, B.A.

Hailima graduated from Alaska Pacific University in 2006 with a Bachelors of Arts in Liberal Studies. While attending Alaska Pacific University, she held positions as Residents Assistant, Office Manager, and Music Speaker Coordinator. During that time she coordinated numerous events focusing on diversity appreciation and is presently working on a documentary dispelling stereotypes and focusing on false perceptions.  She currently serves as Researcher I  for The American Indian Health Research Program executing various significant projects.  She Designs and produces informative brochures, posters and other educational materials on Fetal Alcohol Syndrome for CDC grant; produced a “Health Log for American Indians Living with Diabetes” and “Workbook” for The Wellmark Foundation Grant; is the Editor and Production manager for Project Export Newsletter; and collects data and conducts preliminary descriptive analysis using SPSS format.  Hailima utilizes her extensive experience at APU and as a Researcher I to be proficient  in multiple activities such as, advising GLBTAA; coordinating and facilitating diversity workshops at Spearfish High School and Black Hills State University; and volunteering as a leader for the Alternative Spring Break trip to New Orleans for the Hurricane Katrina Relief Efforts.  Her most recent venture is being Sole Proprietor of Anonamiss Productions, making a powerful impact through art.
