Dr. Rob Schurrer

Rob Schurrer, Ph.D.
Researcher
Dr. Schurrer received his Ph.D in Exercise Physiology
from the University of Virginia. Along
with serving as a Researcher for the American Indian Health Research Program, he
is a Professor of Wellness Management at Black Hills State University. His
research roles with AIHRP include Core Director for Community Outreach and
Education under the BHSU R-24 Project EXPORT grant, under which he designed and
provided technical assistance to two Tribes that implemented a diabetes
self-management education program and designed and provided training to Crow
Tribal Wellness Program staff on exercise for cardiovascular health.
Under the MT-WY TLC AHRQ Minority Research Infrastructure Support Program
grant, he has served as Study Director for Research on Methods to Increase
Breast and Cervical Cancer Screening Rates for American Indian Women.
He currently is the Principal Investigator for the NIH/NCMHD Community
Outreach project on Childhood Obesity Prevention, working with four Tribes
during the initial two years of the grant.
