The Buzz Card functions as your student ID, library card, meal-plan card, and door access/security card.

As a student ID, your Buzz Card provides access to the student computer labs, the Young Center, Student Health Services, and student activites including athletic events, plays, and concerts.

As a library card, you can utilize the resources in the library and check out books and other materials.

As a meal-plan card, present your card when dining at the Hive, or use your card at the Buzz Shack, the Buzz Station Convenience Store, or at Jacket Java and deduct your purchases from your Dining Dollars (attached to your meal plan) or from your Buzz Bucks account.

Finally, as a door access/security card, you are provided access to your residence hall and campus buildings.

You may also choose to have a Buzz Bucks account. This account is like using a checking account or a debit card. You (or your parents) can make deposits to your account at the Buzz Card Office, the Student Union Information Desk, the Library, by mail, by using the online card office, or by using the Cash-to-Card machines located across campus. Present your card when making a purchase at participating locations, on- and off-campus, and the amount will be deducted from your Buzz Bucks account.

Buzz Cards are accepted at the following locations:

• The Hive
  The Hive offers seven different stations including: PAO, our Mongolian BBQ; The Grille, traditional grilled items; Bravo, hearth-fired, house-made pizzas; Market Place, Midwestern home-style comfort food; Sweet Peppers Deli, made to order sandwiches and wraps; Field of Greens, classic salads and a variety of fresh food offerings; and the Bakery, a variety of sweet treats and ice cream. • Buzz Shack
  Located in the Student Union, the Buzz Shack is a great place for coffee, quick meals, and snacks! We offer locally brewed Dark Canyon Coffee, espresso drinks, smoothies, breakfast burritos, wraps, freshly made salads, hoagies, popcorn, fruit parfaits, pastries, and desserts. If you are looking for more than a sandwich, the Buzz Shack offers pizza by the slice, burgers, hot dogs, chili, as well as a soup of the day.
• University Bookstore
  Make your bookstore purchases using your Buzz Bucks account. You can purchase anything sold at the store, such as supplies, gifts, computer software, and clothing. Simply let the cashier know that you will be paying with your Buzz Card and the purchase will be deducted from your Buzz Bucks account.
• Jacket Java
  Need a morning pick-me-up or a tasty afternoon snack? Stop by Jacket Java on your way to or from class. Located in the E.Y. Berry Library Learning Center, Jacket Java offers locally brewed Dark Canyon Coffee, lattes, cappuccinos, smoothies, Italian Sodas, fruit, pastries, breakfast burritos, wraps, hoagies, salads, soup, and chili.
• E.Y. Berry Library-Learning Center
  You may use your Buzz Bucks account to pay for your copying and printing costs at the Library as well as your library fines.
• Vending Machines
  Your Buzz Bucks account can also be used to purchase snacks, juice, and soda from the vending machines across campus.
• Laundry Machines
  The laundry machines in the residence halls are equipped with Buzz Card readers. You will never have to worry about enough quarters. Swipe your card and pay for your washing and drying using your Buzz Bucks account.
• Buzz Bucks Account Bonus
  When you use your Buzz Bucks account, you receive a 10% discount at all copy machines and at the laundry facilities in your residence hall.
• Other Sources
  You may also use your Buzz Bucks account to pay for extension classes, transcript fees, and concessions at athletic events. There are also a variety of off-campus merchants that will accept your Buzz Card.

Welcome to Black Hills State University! We have established an online card office for your Buzz Card. Please use the instructions below to register your Buzz Card.

Please note at the bottom of the instructions that you can give your parents the ability to add money to your Buzz Bucks account with a credit card. You will need to give them the web site https://community.bhsu.edu/ and they will need your first and last name and your 7 digit student ID number to login as a guest and add money to your account.

1. At the first screen of the BHSU Online Card Office for the Sign on Realm select BHSU Students.
2. Your username and password will be the same as your sign in information to sign on to the BHSU computer system.
3. Click the Sign In button.
4. The next screen is Your Accounts summary page.
5. In the tabs on the top of the page select: My Profile 
6. Select: Edit Personal Information
7. Check the email address and make any corrections. This should be your BHSU email address.
   Verify all information and then click Update Personal Information at the bottom of the page.
8. Go to the Accounts Tab.
   • This tab shows your account balances.
   • You can view up to twelve months of printable statements of your account.
   • You can make deposits with a credit card or debit card to you Buzz Bucks account.
   • You can view transaction history of your accounts.
   • You can set up email reminders for new available statements or to alert you
       when your account drops below an amount that you define.
9. Go to the Board Tab.
   • Here you can view your meal/dining plan and see how many meals that you have used as well as how many meals you have left
10. Go to the Card Services tab
    • Here you will be able to deactivate your card immediately if you have lost it, you can also reactivate your card if you have found it before you replaced it.

The online Buzz Card Office has the function to allow parents, family or friends to deposit funds into your Buzz Bucks account without viewing any information concerning your account. To login as a guest they need your first name, last name, and 7 digit Student ID number. They can do this on the login page right under the student login area.
