Plankinton School

Plankinton Public School was devastated by an explosion and fire on Friday, Nov 17, 2000. We visited the school on Thanksgiving Day, Nov 22. The pictures below are what we saw.

The old school bell was taken from the top of the school house

The school bell was originally on the south end of the building above the History room and girls room.

This is the east end of the newest addition. That addition housed some classrooms and weight room and was the whole length of the gym and stage built to the north of the gym.

This is looking in the northeast door of the gym. You are looking the whole length of the basketball court, beyond the stage.

More of above picture looking to the left. Notice that they had removed the old permanent bleachers a while back and replaced them with bleachers that pull in and out.

This is looking at the west end of the new addition. We were standing in the teacher's parking area. The solid wall on the right is the back of the stage area.
