Plankinton Public School was devastated by an explosion and fire on Friday, Nov 17,
2000. We visited the school on Thanksgiving Day, Nov 22. The pictures below
are what we saw.
Looking at the school from the southeast corner
The old school bell was taken from the top of the school
house
The school bell was originally on the south end of the
building above the History room and girls room.
This is the east end of the newest addition. That
addition housed some classrooms and weight room and was the whole length of the gym and
stage built to the north of the gym.
This is looking in the northeast door of the gym. You are looking the whole length of the basketball court, beyond the stage.
Zoomed in on picture to the left. Notice the
basketball bangboard on the right side above the old bleachers.
More of above picture looking to the left. Notice
that they had removed the old permanent bleachers a while back and replaced them with
bleachers that pull in and out.
This is looking at the west end of the new addition.
We were standing in the teacher's parking area. The solid wall on the right
is the back of the stage area.
