Tim Schoon
Tim Schoon grew up in the Midwest, and has always had an interest in photography. After a two-year stint as the sports editor for a small newspaper in Lead, South Dakota, he earned his master’s degree in journalism from the University of Missouri School of Journalism. He spent eight years shooting news, sports and features for newspapers in Missouri, Michigan and Utah, and also worked as a photographer for the South Dakota Department of Tourism. He currently is a staff photographer in the University Creative Services department at The University of Iowa, where he has created thousands of images for use in a variety of higher education recruitment and promotional materials. Recently, he began teaching a course on Nature Photography at Iowa. His work has been exhibited at such places as the Newseum in Washington, D.C., the Eccles Community Art Center in Ogden, Utah, and the National Museum of Wildlife Art in Jackson, Wyo. He lives in Iowa City with his wife, Amy and their 7-year-old son Henry.
