The Art of Digital Nature Photography
Saturday AM session
Nature photography is the most popular form of photography! With the new digital technologies changing on a daily basis, things can become overwhelming. There all the features of the cameras, the technical side of photography, composition and lighting. Then throw in the computer and need to process image files and you have what might seem a complex amount of effort required when you simply want to take and make a beautiful picture. In this seminar the processes will be simplified and explained. We discuss all the above issues and show how easy, even fun, processing your images in Photoshop can be. We’ll look at lighting and composition, the technical side of achieving your goal for the photo, how visualize the final photo, and how to make the best choices on image processing.

Cowboy Portraits: An Intro to Portrait Lighting
Saturday PM session
Cowboys and the Old West hold a special place in the hearts and minds of many Americans. For photographers, the opportunity to photograph cowboys is an opportunity that cant be missed. But like all photography, the best images are created when the photographer ‘builds a photo’ rather than takes a picture and one of the first considerations here is lighting. When we have no control over lighting provided by nature, we need tools to create lighting that compliments our subjects. In this portrait seminar we will look at the variety of artificial lighting available to photographer including lighting equipment, umbrellas, light boxes, and more. We’ll cover lighting techniques and strategies before finishing our seminar by creating actual cowboy portraits. So bring your camera!

Fastest Flash in the West
Sunday AM session
Lighting is a key ingredient in defining a successful photo. Without light, there would be no photography. Think of how light affects the world around us. The landscape is shaped by light and gives you a visual story in showing the layout of the land by defining textures within the landscape. In the studio, lighting for a portrait provides you the visual information about that person, the shape and color of a product, or the mood of a carefully crafted still life photo. In this workshop you will be introduced the equipment, how light works, the quality of light, and then watch demos of the equipment in use creating western themed studio still life’s. You will gain a better understanding of choosing the best light for a still life setup and then how to apply it. Be sure and bring your camera!

Digital Workflow for Photographers
Sunday PM sessions
Photographers love to shoot photographs and with today’s digital technology, snapping the shutter is cheap. The results however are often volumes of digital image files piled up on a computer hard drive. And the more photography the more those image files grow on that hard drive. If your workflow consists of burning those files to a DVD and tossing it in a box you will quickly discover how cumbersome such a system can be. You need an effective and efficient workflow! In this seminar, we’ll cover a wide range of subjects including fast and efficient time saving techniques for organizing all those image files. We’ll discuss computer setup, importing, batch renaming, naming conventions, Lightroom databases, keywording, catalogs, and image processing in Lightroom.
