What is Math Club?Math Club is a student run organization open to all Black Hills State University students willing to have fun regardless of major or minor. What does Math Club do?Fundraisers: The Math Club does one big fundraiser each semester, the rental of calculators to BHSU students. Fun Activities: The Math Club has a number of get-togethers each semester. Academic Benefits: Math Club members receive free membership to MAA (Mathematical Association of America) through which we receive mathematical magazines and journals as well as worked out problems and projects. We attend math conferences and the Math Club also provides academic scholarships to a number of members each year. How often does Math Club meet?Math Club meets at least twice a month to eat and discuss any activities we might want to have as well as any business that may have come up. Meeting times change to accommodate schedules of members, but we usually meet in Jonas 168 at 5:00 on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month. How do I get in touch with the Math Club? The Math Club strives to keep this website updated. Minutes from previous meetings will be posted here as well as upcoming events, calculator rental information, and even photos from past Math Club activities. Members are also contacted and informed of meeting times and dates by email. You may also contact one of the members by email. What is Math Club recognized for?2005 and 2006 Rocky Mountain MAA Region Poster Contests winners. In 1997, the Math Club was awarded a Board of Regents Student Service Award for our dedication to student education at BHSU, but if you ask any of the Math Club members what we are known for, they'll just tell you we have a lot of fun and eat a lot of food! If you have any questions about Math Club or about BHSU's Math program, contact one of our members and we will help you out as best as we can! |
