BHSU RECYCLE PROGRAM

Black Hills State University currently collects and recycles several different types of material including:

  • White Paper
    (sheet & shredded )
  • Aluminum
  • Plastic
  • Telephone Books (seasonally)
  • Batteries
  • Cardboard
  • Metal
  • Glass
  • Used Motor Oil
  • Used Cooking Oil

The chart below shows Facilities Services estimates for quantities of material collected and kept out of local landfills for this fiscal year.

Here's how you can participate!

Place only recycle material generated on the BHSU campus in the appropriate, labeled containers at these locations:

  • White paper containers are on most floors of Jonas Academic, Meier Hall, Library, Woodburn, Young Center, and main floor lobbies in Humbert, Heidepriem and Wenona Cook residence halls.
  • GLUTTON® recycle containers for plastic, glass, and aluminum are in the Student Union, Don Young Center, and Woodburn.
  • Aluminum can containers are on 2nd floor Jonas and in residence hall lobbies. Additional Plastic bottle containers are available in the Young Center for athletic and special events.
  • Batteries (alkaline and UPS) are collected at Facilities Services.
  • Cardboard is collected by Facilities Services.  Leave broken down boxes in the hallway, and call 605-642-6244 immediately for pickup.
