Online Course Testing Procedures - Our goal is to provide a quiet space for testing that meets the needs of the student who are taking online courses from other universities yet are Black Hills State University students, as well as provide the test security faculty need for the integrity of their exams.
- Students MUST make an appointment directly with the Humbert Hall Testing Center for their online exam at least one week in advance from the scheduled test time.* Appointments can be made by calling 605-642-6908. Space and staff are limited, so appointments will always be honored before walk-ins. It is the student’s responsibility to make sure that a proctor form has been completed and received by the instructor/university from which the student is taking the exam.
- Faculty can email/bring/mail the exam to the Humbert Hall Testing Center. The instructor must include instructions; i.e. time allowed, closed book/note, calculator allowed, etc. and return method of the exam.
- The testing location is in Humbert Hall. Questions should be directed to 605 642-6908.
Make up-exams:
Students missing an exam for extreme, unforeseen events may be allowed a make-up test at the faculty's discretion. Allowing make-up exams for planned absences are at the discretion of the faculty member, and arrangements should be between the faculty and student. Make-up testing services at the Humbert Hall Testing Center are not meant to replace faculty – student interactions. We provide a service to supplement testing needs when faculty cannot make accommodations with students directly due to extenuating circumstances. Please contact Nancy Shuck at 605 642-6908 with questions.
*NOTE: Every semester our testing facility is overwhelmed for midterms and finals. Students, please make appointments as far in advance as possible to ensure a slot during these busy times.
