If you think your computer may be infected with malware, follow these instructions to download free anti-malware or anti-spyware software that will scan your computer for viruses and remove harmful items.

Malwarebytes Anti-Malware

1. Go to http://download.cnet.com/windows/
2. In the search box type: Malwarebytes
3. Click on: Malwarebytes Anti-Malware
4. Click Download Now.
5. If the security tab pops up, right-click and click Download File.
6. Click Save and save the file somewhere accessible, such as the Desktop.
7. When it is finished downloading, Run the installer.
8. Select your language, then click OK.
9. Click Next.
10. Accept the agreement, and click Next.
11. Click Next again.
12. Click Next to save, then click Next again.
13. Click Next again, then click Install.
14. When it has finished installing, click Finish.
15. It will then update. When it is finished updating click OK.
16. Malwarebytes will open automatically.
17. Click Perform Quick Scan, then click Scan.
18. Once the scan is complete, click OK.
19. It will tell you if there were any malicious items found, and will give you the option to remove them.
    1. If there were no malicious items found, a Notepad document will appear when you click OK. Close Notepad, and then click Exit on the Malwarebytes program.
    2. If a threat is found click OK, then click Show Results.
       1. Then click Remove Selected.
       2. Once Finished, close the Notepad document, and click Yes to restart if needed.

It is recommended that you run the scan multiple times. If the problems persist, repeat steps 17-19 using the Perform Full Scan option, or try SUPER Antispyware. Read more about Malwarebytes...

SUPER AntiSpyware Free Edition

1. Go to the official SUPERAntiSpyware site. 
2. Click Download Now.
3. Click Download FREE VERISON Home Users.
4. If the security tab pops up, right-click and click Download File.
5. Click Save and save the file somewhere accessible, such as the Desktop.
6. When it is finished downloading, Run the installer.
7. Click Next.
8. Accept the terms, click Next.
9. Set the Name and Organization or leave it at the defaults, and click Next.
10. Click Next, then click Next again.
11. Click Finish.
12. Once installation is complete, select language and click Ok.
13. Click Yes when it asks “Would you like SUPERAntiSpyware to check for the latest rules and definition updates now?”
14. Click Next.
15. Click Next.
16. Click Next.
17. Click Next, the click Finish.
18. Click Protect Home Page.
19. Open the SUPERAntiSpyware interface by double-clicking the bug icon in the system tray.
20. Click Scan your Computer…
21. Select the drives you want to scan, make sure Perform Quick Scan is selected, and click Next to scan.
22. Once the scan is complete,a scan summary will appear. Click OK.
23. Click Next to remove the harmful items, if needed.
24. Click Yes to reboot if needed.
