Submitted By: Art Jones - 8/29/2011 12:55:12 PM

Recipients Name: Art Jones

Why they make a difference: I am passing the make a difference coin to Art Jones. This week Art made a difference to BHSU by generously donating plants for me to place around campus. This was not the first occasion Art has donated plants. Art is a person who has asked me each year if I need plants for the campus. Art has been very generous with plants from his home with consistently asking each year if I need more. Art knows that plants sometimes even with the best care do not make it and with a smile again this year told me if the ones I was able to transplant don't make it "there will be more next year". Art will tell me what items I can pick from and to take as many as I can use. Thank you Art for your generosity and making a difference to assist in the beautification of BHSU.

Recipients Name: Anne Stevens

Why they make a difference: Very seldom do I use the privilege of writing a note to administrators or personnel supervisors. Today, I feel that one person on campus made such a difference that I had to acknowledge her effort, commitment to the university, and dedication to her “job.” As we lost our classroom in Rapid City and had to move out to be relocated in an annex on another elementary campus, we were faced with a classroom environment that was at best marginal. The old chalkboard and overhead projector were back! Within a week, Anne Stevens had a Smart cart wired with existing technologies purchased for the PDS schools. Yes, she did her job, but she went beyond the call of duty. As I took all the technology to Rapid City she had digital pictures on how to hook it up step-by -step then step-by-step written instructions to run everything properly. She then gave me her support by phone to troubleshoot one set-up. Within 40 minutes I was able to conduct class with a similar technology level as any classroom on campus.

Because of her efforts, all of the presentations and workshops during welcome week were technology error free.
