The Office of Institutional Research and Assessment

The mission of the Office of Institutional Research is to be the official source for information used by the data driven decision makers at Black Hills State University and beyond.  As such, Institutional Research provides accurate, appropriate and timely information intended to support the efforts of BHSU to be an innovative, high quality institution.

Research is conducted using best research practices that result in reliable and valid information while protecting subject privacy.  Studies are conducted using historic and current records, state and national data sources.  Examples of specific studies include:

  • Enrollment studies for majors, departments graduate studies and assessment and accreditation efforts;
  • Retention studies and accountability efforts;
  • Admissions and recruitment reports and data for undergraduate and graduate students;
  • Reporting to external governing agencies at the local, state and federal levels; and
  • Ad hoc reports as needed by members of the BHSU community

Integrated Reporting Services

Integrated Reporting Services:  Standard Reports for institutional administration that can be accessed through a secure portal.   These reports can only be accessed on-campus.

If you are a member of the BHSU campus community and you cannot access these reports, please contact Information Technology.

Class Search

You can search class schedules from on or off campus.  This search can be used to check for course / section availability.  If you have any questions about the search, you can contact  Information Technology.

With specific questions about courses and programs, please contact the Registrar's Office.

2010 NSSE Annual Results

Annual Results  for the 2010 NSSE survey are available from NSSE.  The report outlines the differences in level of engagement by major or field of study and provides an excellent tool for program assessment.  For information regarding 2010 NSSE results for BHSU, please contact Erin Holmes.
