Our team of web experts is here to help you get started communicating your organization, program, or faculty news on the web. BHSU offers websites to all student organizations and faculty members, in addition to maintaining and assisting departments, centers and programs in having a professional web presence. We offer advice, recommendations, and training – either personal or in a group setting to help you create and maintain a professional website that represents BHSU.
Do I have to know a lot about web stuff?
You do not need to know a lot of technical details to get started on the web. Primarily you need to know the details of the information about your area that would be useful for your users. We can help you learn what you need to know to make it a successful experience.
The web platform used at BHSU is an open source system called DotNetNuke, or DNN for short. It is a content management system that allows you to edit and maintain web pages from any location where there is internet without the need of special software or special technical knowledge.
Is there more than the website?
There sure is. We can also assist you in creating a web marketing campaign including: online ad creation and maintenance, email campaigns, social media initiatives and more.
Social media?
Black Hills State University has a presence on several different social media platforms including: Facebook, YouTube, MySpace, Flickr, and Twitter. If your department that is considering starting your own social media initiative – please come and visit with us as we can offer you assistance and make sure that you get off to the best possible start on your endeavor.
What has been keeping us busy?
In the summer of 2010 we were extremely busy on getting the BHSU website back into shape. After the site was back up and running, we returned to several big projects that included creating a remodeled Alumni, Donors and Friends website. In addition we are working on making a few modifications to the main website in look and feel to help improve the user experience. Other projects are the new Virtual Tour that just recently launched www.BHSU.edu/VirtualTour.
