Employees who are in a position that is subject to the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and are asked to work more than forty hours in one work week (Sunday through Saturday) will be compensated by either overtime pay or compensatory time at the rate of one and one half times their hourly wage. All overtime hours must be approved by the supervisor prior to being worked. Employees who work overtime hours without approval may be subject to disciplinary action. Cash payment for overtime worked must receive advanced authorization from the Vice President for Business and Administrative Services. Compensatory time may be accumulated to a maximum amount of 40 hours.
