Nearly 15 Black Hills State University volunteers put together Thanksgiving baskets this week for those in need. The volunteers packed five baskets for families in need in the Little Jackets Learning Center on campus.
The Black Hills State University theatre department is putting a twist on a holiday classic by Charles Dickens. “Jacob Marley’s Christmas Carol,” written by Tom Mula, will be presented Dec. 4-6 at 7:30 p.m. in Pangburn Theatre on the BHSU campus.
Dr. Patricia Simpson, dean of the College of Education and Behavioral Sciences at Black Hills State University, was elected to the board of governors of The Renaissance Group, a national consortium to prepare American education professionals. Simpson’s tenure begins immediately.
Two students from the Black Hills State University Honors Program will defend their capstone projects on Dec. 4 at 4 p.m. in Jonas Hall 110 as part of the Geek Speak lecture series. The students’ diverse topics include tournament theory in movies and an allegory on the decision to become a United Methodist pastor.
BHSU business student, Samantha Johnson, recently received a $7,000 scholarship from Zonta International, a worldwide organization of business professionals working to advance the status of women. Johnson is one of 12 students worldwide to receive the Jane M. Klausman Women in Business Scholarship.
