The deadline for registration in the Black Hills State University Summer Bridge Program is quickly approaching.

Incoming freshmen that wish to register for the Bridge Program must do so by Friday, Aug. 1.

BHSU expands event for the second annual Jacket Ride

Black Hills State University will sponsor the 2nd Annual Jacket Ride as part of the Sturgis Rally events. The ride will take place on Tuesday, Aug. 5 at 10 a.m. with registration starting at 8:30 a.m.  



New BHSU President named one of the top new higher education leaders to follow on Twitter

Jackson, who assumed the presidency at BHSU this month, was named the top “Rising Accounts of Higher Education Presidents to Follow on Twitter” in a national blog by Josie Ahlquist (


BHSU a part of Spearfish being named to the Top 10 Small Towns of 2014

Spearfish was named one of the Top 10 Small Towns by this week.

Spearfish ranked number seven on the list, with Black Hills State University listed as a key component to the community’s high quality of life. Livability looks for small communities that inspire creativity and activity.


Sting’s Eco Explorers Day Camp focuses on sustainability
Wednesday, July 23, 2014 As part of the initiative to lower carbon emissions by the campus, Black Hills State University recently hosted an EcoExplorers Day Camp which focused on teaching children the importance of sustainability while creating an environment that was fun and friendly.

BHSU professors discuss the connection between art and science
Monday, July 21, 2014 A group of panelists, including two Black Hills State University professors, will engage in a discussion on the connection of art and science, a theme that has also been the subject of a statewide traveling art exhibit. The discussion is Wednesday, July 30 at 5:30 p.m. at the Dahl Arts Center in Rapid City and will be held in conjunction with the exhibit’s month-long stop at the Dahl.
