USDA-CSREES Grantsmanship Workshop

USDA-CSREES Grantsmanship Workshop
Denver, Colorado                 October 2-3, 2007

The Cooperative State Research Education and Extension Service (CSREES) will host a 2 two-day workshop on grant writing October 2-3 in Denver.  The BHSU grants office will pay expenses for faculty who are planning to submit a USDA proposal this year.

On day one, the CSREES Grantsmanship Workshop will focus on CSREES-USDA Funding Opportunities with an emphasis on the National Research Initiative Competitive Grants Program (NRICGP), Higher Education, Multicultural Alliances and International Programs, Integrated Research, Education and Extension Programs, Children Youth and Families at Risk Program, Pest Management Alternatives Program (PMAP), and Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Programs. In Fiscal Year 2007, most CSREES competitive grants programs accepted ONLY electronic application submissions through Grants.gov. There will be an exhibit at the workshop to provide an opportunity to ask questions and have queries addressed by key agency personnel.

The Writing Winning Grants Workshop, presented by Drs. Tom Fretz and Michael Harrington, is held on the second day and focuses on how to navigate the grant writing process. Participants will be walked through the process of developing a successful grant submission, how to participate in the review process, proposal organization, the development of integrated team proposals and will also highlight common errors and what should be avoided.

The agenda, registration information and other details are available at:  http://www.colostate.edu/Depts/AES/csrees.  Contact the BHSU grants office (642-6204) to coordinate registration and payment information.
