The purpose of planning grants is to support the development of AmeriCorps programs that will engage AmeriCorps members in evidence-based interventions to solve community problems. Planning grant recipients are expected to be better prepared to compete for an AmeriCorps program grant in the following grant cycle. Planning grants may not be used to support AmeriCorps members.
Debate is often supported as an extracurricular or co-curricular activity of departments and schools inside a college or university. In some instances, debate is linked to the department’s curriculum, as frequently occurs in departments of English, rhetoric and communication, politics, etc. In other cases, debate may be supported as an extracurricular activity available to all students regardless of academic department.
The NEA will make grants for research projects that use existing datasets to mine data for analyses of the value and impact of the U.S. arts sector on the nation, whether on individuals or communities. Applications should present novel research questions that have not previously been explored with the referenced dataset(s). Projects that will be conducted in partnership with for-profit entities, and/or which use commercial and/or administrative datasets, are also encouraged.
The primary purposes of this initiative are to provide leadership in research fundamental to the development of the next generation of robotics, particularly co-robotics, to advance the capability and usability of such systems and artifacts, and to encourage existing and new communities to focus on innovative application areas.

Burroughs Wellcome Fund Accepting Applications for Collaborative Research Travel Grants This program provides up to $15,000 in support for researchers from degree-granting institutions to travel either domestically or internationally to a laboratory to acquire a new research technique, to facilitate a collaboration, or to attend a laboratory/lecture course.
