Chair handed out an article on the Spellings Commission, which is a national report recommending that in the future all colleges and universities have a national normed exit exam which a student must pass to graduate. The article discusses the pro and cons to this issue as well as the likelihood of such a test being put in place.

Annual Reports:

  • Biology - Moved and seconded to accept. The committee asked for clarification on Point 4 on how students are tracked once they graduate from BHSU. Motion passed. The committee agreed that the Master of Science in Integrative Genomics (MSIG) should have a separate plan for assessment.
  • American Indian Studies - The committee tabled with the following suggestions:
    1. Future reports should leave out the list of courses.
    2. Data from the exit test should be broken down into subcategories and analyzed.
    3. Conclusion should be rewritten and indicate recommendations.
  • Professional Accountancy - Moved and seconded to accept. Motion passed.
  • Composite Social Science/Social Science - Moved and seconded to accept. Motion passed. The committee commended Carriveau on the report.
