Hope Glenn&amp;rsquo;s accomplishments were numerous during a teaching career that spanned 35 years. During that time, she served as a consultant to various districts in Southern California in developing continuums and proficiency standards, represented the district at the state level in developing California proficiency tests, and was assistant to the superintendent in curriculum for grades K-12 in the San Bernardino Unified School District.

Clair Britton taught school, worked for the federal government, served in the Army during World War II, attended Westminister Law School, retired in 1969 and then served as mayor of his hometown, Ravenna, Neb. He served as state chairman by directing 22 Nebraska communities that voluntarily licensed 32 refugee physicians from Vietnam in 1975. He enjoys photography and reading with his wife of 60 years, Elma Miller.

<description>Dakota Territory/Spearfish Normal Award, Raymond Adel, &amp;lsquo;43
Adel enrolled at Spearfish Norma in 1939 and today is a retired Appellate Court Judge of Workers&amp;rsquo; Compensation Court of Appeals for the State of Minnesota. Prior to his duties in court, Adel was the assistant commissioner and deputy commissioner of the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry, Compensation Counsel and Attorney for the Minnesota Workmen&amp;rsquo;s Commission and worked in the claim department for Liberty Mutual Insurance Company. He also served in the Army Air Force after attending Spearfish Normal/Black Hills Teachers College.

<description>Lloyd Petersen, Dakota Territory/Spearfish Normal, &amp;rsquo;40
Petersen taught school in Beulah, Wyo., Nisland, New Underwood, and Custer. In 1941 he enlisted in the civilian pilot-training program and became a flight instructor in 1942. He was later stationed in Rapid City, Los Angeles and Vietnam. In 1970 Lloyd retired from the United State Air Force as a Lieutenant Colonel. Petersen and his wife, Esther, established an athletic scholarship at the university in 1994.

Reichert taught in Midland, S.D. from 1940-42. She then started working for the Federal Bureau of investigation (FBI) in the fingerprints department, then transferred to crime records where she worked as a writer/editor. Reichert retired from the FBI in 1980.

<description>Myriam Friggens received the first &quot;Dakota Territory/Spearfish Normal Award.&quot; This award is given to alumni who attended Dakota Territory Norman and/or Spearfish Normal from 1883 to 1940 and who have distinguished themselves in support of BHSU. Friggens recently established a scholarship, the Myriam Ackley Scholarship Fund, for elementary education students.
