<description>The National Endowment for the Humanities is accepting applications for the America's Media Makers Development Grants. Grants for America's Media Makers support projects in the humanities that explore stories, ideas, and beliefs that deepen the understanding of the world. Development grants enable media producers to collaborate with scholars to develop humanities content to prepare programs for production. These grants cover a wide range of activities, including meetings and individual consultations with scholars, research, preliminary interviews, preparation of program scripts, designs for interactivity and digital distribution, and the creation of partnerships for outreach activities and public engagement with the humanities. Development grants should culminate in the refinement of a project's humanities ideas, a script, or a design document for digital media components or projects. If you have any questions about the Development Grants, contact the Division of Public Programs at either (202) 606-8269 or publicpgms@neh.gov.

Eligibility: Public, private, and state-controlled institutions of higher education; state, county, city, township, and special district governments; nonprofits; and Native American tribal governments (Federally recognized).

Deadline: Aug. 26, 2009.

Funds: $75,000 per grant.

Contact: Division of Public Programs, National Endowment for the Humanities, Room 426, 1100 Pennsylvania Ave., N.W., Washington, DC 20506; (202) 606-8269; publicpgms@neh.gov.
