A K-12 technology integrationist endorsement requires three years of experience and an educational technology methodology course in addition to 18 semester hours as follows:

    Demonstrate ability to implement key learning theories and methods of instruction and their relation to appropriate andeffective technology integration to include the use and development of inquiry-based, student-centered learning models;
    Demonstrate ability to facilitate and model the effective use of multiple technologies into the curriculum and instructional 
    practices across content area through the use of appropriate curriculum development models in the inclusion of educational technologies;
    Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of current and emerging technologies for use in 21st century classrooms;
    Identify school teaching and learning needs through needs analysis, and organizing and implementing problem-solving 
    actions with teachers and administrators;
    Monitor instructional effectiveness and progress of technology integration using appropriate tools and strategies;
    Demonstrate knowledge of current research regarding community of learners, instructional practices linked to student 
    achievement, differentiated instruction, mentoring, coaching, and emerging technologies;
    Collaborate with teachers to support their use of technology in delivery of curricula consistent with student needs and 
    district instructional goals;
    Work with teachers to integrate instructional practices that reflect a variety of techniques, promoting positive interaction 
    among students, and providing appropriate practice of activities and skills focusing upon desired learning outcomes;
    Develop school-based high quality professional development opportunities to help teachers refine their knowledge and 
    skills;
    Demonstrate knowledge of equity issues in current educational reform to include the awareness and the ability to apply and model to others the ethical use of all technological resources.

Verified teaching experience in K-12 educational technology within the five-year period immediately preceding application may be accepted in lieu of the above methodology course at the equivalency of one year's teaching experience for one semester hour credit for a maximum of three semester hours of the total credit hours required. No state test is required or available to validate this endorsement.

A K-12 mathematics specialist shall require the following:

    Advanced certification;
    Three years of experience teaching mathematics in a K-12 setting;
    A demonstrated understanding of:
    
        K-12 mathematical concepts, process standards, and pedagogical content knowledge at the depth required for 
        effective teaching;
        The process of learning mathematics through inquiry;
        The historical development of mathematical ideas;
        Connections of concepts across grade levels and connections to other disciplines;
        Current issues in mathematics education reform (e.g. measurement of student achievement, legislation, state and 
        national standards); and
    
    
    The study of and actual or simulated experience in the following areas:
    
        Use of mathematics education research to facilitate learning among all students;
        Evaluation of student understanding through observation, written assessments, and student questioning;
        Use of manipulatives and technology across all strands of mathematical content to build student understanding;
        Use of multiple pedagogical approaches and awareness of potential benefits, challenges, and research base of each;
        Instructional leadership to support the professional growth of other teachers and to provide guidance for parents, administrators, and the broader community.

ARSD 24:15:06:18.
A K-12 music education endorsement requires 18 semester hours in music, to include a music methodology course, music theory, history, score reading, conducting, and performance. The endorsement shall be vocal or instrumental based upon the concentration of coursework. Study in the developmental characteristics of K-12 learners and a practicum, internship, or student teaching inclusive of K-12 learners is required, if not previously completed. Verified teaching experience in K-12 music within the five-year period immediately preceding application may be accepted in lieu of the above field experiences at the equivalency of one year’s teaching experience for one semester hour credit for a maximum of three semester hours of the total credit hours required. The vocal and instrumental endorsements may be added with either coursework or the passage of the designated state test.

<description>K-12 Special Education Endorsement Requirements
ARSD 24:15:06:41.

    Teacher certification and one year of general classroom teaching, or special education paraprofessional experience, or special education certification and one year of special education teaching experience
    The passage of the state special education teacher licensing examination; and
    A minimum of a three semester-hour special education practicum under the supervision of a certified special education teacher and university supervisor at each level of endorsement.

A K-12 special education endorsement requires a minimum of 27 semester credits with a minimum of 24 in special education. The credits in special education shall include vocational transition and a special education practicum of two semester hours at the elementary level and two semester hours at the secondary level. The candidate must demonstrate through coursework knowledge and skills at the K-12 endorsement level to meet the Council of Exceptional Children's performance-based standards covering: foundations, development and characteristics of learners, individual learning differences, instructional strategies, learning environments and social interactions, communication, instructional planning, assessment, professional and ethical practice, and collaboration.
