Any new files uploaded to or created in OneDrive will automatically begin as “private”; files and folders are not shared with anyone until you specify the permissions.

Setting Permissions

  1. Click the ellipses (“. . .”) next to the file or folder
  2. Click “Share
  3. Enter the names or email addresses of specific people you wish to give permission to. To make a file or folder accessible to all faculty and students, enter “Everyone” (minus quotes)
  4. Select the appropriate level of permissions: “Can edit” or “Can view
  5. Enter an optional message that sends along with the invitation
  6. Note: If you are configuring a folder with access for “Everyone,” be sure to click “Show Options” and uncheck “Send an email invitation” before you share the folder or file.
  7. Click “Share

Sharing a Link

  1. Click the ellipses (“. . .”) next to the file or folder
  2. Copy the URL listed in the pop-up window
  3. Distribute the URL using email or as a link on a web page
