Dr. David Scarborough, Black Hills State University business associate professor, recently published an article and was selected to attend a conference later this year.
Scarborough co-authored the article “Does Job Testing Harm Minority Workers? Evidence from Retail Establishments” with Dr. David Autor, an associate professor of economics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. The article was published in the February 2008 issue of The Quarterly Journal of Economics.
In addition, Scarborough was accepted to present research at the 2008 Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology, Inc., conference in San Francisco. The presentation, titled "Update on Neural Networks in I-O Psychology," addresses artificial neural networks (ANNs), which are used to model complex interactions in large data sets. They have been used successfully in various types of organizational research.
Scarborough earned his bachelor’s in psychology from Texas Christian University. Both his master’s and doctoral degrees are from the University of North Texas. He held a number of human resources and research positions with American Airlines, Bell Helicopter-Textron and General Dynamics before becoming a member of the BHSU faculty in 2006.
