A special chamber music performance by the Black Hills Trio will be hosted by Black Hills State University Sunday, Jan. 27 at 2:30 p.m. in Clare and Josef Meier Recital Hall.
Special guest percussionist Clacie Neu will join trio members Elizabeth Benusis, Coral White, and BHSU music professor Dr. Janeen Larsen for a program of Scherzos, Tangos, and All That Jazz. The concert features a variety of lighter works by Beethoven, Mendelsson, Piazolla, Bolling, and Nyman.
Benusis, a certified teacher in South Dakota schools, is the principal cellist with the Black Hills Symphony. White has taught school orchestra and private violin lessons in addition to serving as concertmaster with the Black Hills Symphony for 30 years and performing with several regional symphonies.
Larsen, chair of the Fine and Applied Arts Department at BHSU, received her master’s from the University of Wisconsin and doctorate degree from the University of Florida. She has performed throughout the region as both a classical and jazz pianist. Neu, percussionist, presently lives in Rapid City and is a member of the Rochford Jazz Quartet. He performs with the Black Hills Symphony as well as community theater orchestras and local bands.
