Tim Bishop (center) competed for the Yellow Jackets as a student.  He recently won the New Professional of the Year Award.
Black Hills State University graduate Tim Bishop was awarded the New Professional of the Year Award at the South Dakota Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance annual conference.

“Tim is a great person and was a positive personality to have in classes,” says Dr. Betsy Silva, chair of the BHSU Department of Physical Education and Health.  “He excelled in each area demonstrating imagination and insight when creating, implementing, and assessing lessons he taught.  He showed exceptional ability interacting with students and demonstrating skills in a developmentally appropriate manner.”

The New Professional of the Year Award recognizes coaches and teachers who make outstanding contributions in their first five years of professional work.  Bishop graduated from BHSU in 2003 with a degree in physical education and currently works as the athletic director at Spearfish Middle School.
