The Black Hills State University Music Department will be celebrating the sounds of spring with a Choral Concert Sunday, April 27 at 2:30 p.m. in the Clare and Josef Meier Recital Hall.
The University Concert Choir, Chamber Singers and Men’s Ensemble will be performing a wide variety of repertoire including master works by Victoria, Elgar and Brahms.
The BHSU Concert Choir is a 40-voice mixed ensemble. The choir performs a varied repertoire, both accompanied and a cappella, from Renaissance motets to American spirituals, as well as larger works.
The BHSU Chamber Singers is a select ensemble of 18 student singers. They specialize in a cappella literature that was written for smaller groups. The Chamber Singers perform the Madrigal Dinner each fall in Renaissance garb, singing madrigals, motets, and carols. Each spring, the singers perform a more varied repertoire ranging from Renaissance madrigals to romantic part-songs to settings of popular songs.
Both performances are free and open to the public. Scholarship donations are welcome. For more information contact Dr. Jonathan Nero, associate professor of music, at Jonathan.Nero@BHSU.edu or 605-642-6628.
