Black Hills State University is the site for the Young Musicians Foundation (YMF)/Balmat National Orchestra 2007 summer camp.
The camp will run through July with a special performance to be held at the Mount Rushmore Ampitheatre on July 29 at 7 p.m.
Maestro Lucas Richman, from the Knoxville Symphony, will return to lead 70 of the most talented 10 to 15 year old musicians from across the country. Richman is dedicated to the pursuit of introducing music to young people.
Richman was principal conductor for the Disney Young Musicians Symphony Orchestra in 1999 and has been music director for the Young Musicians Foundation Debut Orchestra Camp since 2001.
Richman has appeared as guest conductor with numerous orchestras around the world. In recent years, Richman collaborated with several film composers as their conductor. He recorded scores for the films; “As Good As It Gets,” “Face/Off,” “Seven,” “Breakdown,” “The Village,” and “The Manchurian Candidate.”
YMF is committed to the personal and professional development of young musicians of all levels. Through its two branches—Artistic Development & Assistance and Education & Community Outreach—the foundation is able to foster musical growth through a wide range of performance and instruction opportunities.
