The Leland D. Case Library at Black Hills State University is seeking organizational records of local clubs.
The library is currently working with the collections, finalizing collection guides to be made available online. Though the collections are substantial, many of the organizational records collections have gaps in the time periods covered. Case Library wants to document these organizations as completely as possible, particularly in instances where the organization is now defunct, and is asking for submissions from members.
The library holds many significant manuscript and photograph collections documenting the history of the Black Hills, including: family papers, personal papers, and records of local businesses and organizations. Some of the collections that the library is interested in enhancing are: Spearfish Women’s Club; Queen City Business & Professional Women’s Club; Society of Black Hills Pioneers; Black Hills Federation of Women’s Clubs; Lower Valley Women’s Club; and the PEO Chapter.
The above list is not comprehensive; other types of organizations covered include extension clubs, honor societies, and fraternal/sorority organizations.
The library is also interested in photographs and records documenting the history of the Black Hills. If you have materials that may be of interest to Case library, please call Bobbi Sago at 605-642-6361 or email at RobertaSago@bhsu.edu or David Wolff at: DavidWolff@bhsu.edu or 605-642-6221.
